Seget Donji, Croatia

Seget Donji, once a small fishing village now a pleasant tourist destination, stretches along the coast between Seget Vranjica and Trogir with which it is merged.

As partly settled on the slope of the hill Vlaska, it offers a beautiful view of Trogir bay and the island of Ciovo.

The historic area of Seget Donji is located inside a rectangular closed tower that vaguely resembles Diocletian's palace. That tower and the nearby fortified village were built in the mid-16th century for Jakov Rotundo and his peasants to hide during the Ottoman Turks attacks.

Even today, four corner towers and three city's gates are preserved.

The place is dominated by the tower of the Baroque The Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary Church that keeps a Gothic painted cross from the 14th century and a wooden triptych, a work by Blaz Juraj Trogiranin.

The majority of Seget's 2 km long beaches are rocky except the pebble ones with cemented parts by the hotels Medena, Jadran and the camping Seget.

On the western side of Medana Beach, there is a minuscule naturist's beach.

Seget's small harbor is quite exposed to southerly winds. Boaters can equally berth at a breakwater with a depth of 3 m or in a harbor up to 2 m when they are not occupied by the local fishing boats.

Boats can also berth near Trogir harbor in the part between the Cape Cubrijan and Seget on the north side of the Trogir channel.

This little place is an excellent departure point for hikers, joggers and bikers. By the coast, there is a well arranged Lungo Mare promenade from the hotel Medena until the city of Trogir.

Behind Seget, on the hill there is a marked hiking track that leads to the church of St Ilija and in nearby Kastela, you will find great trails on Kozjak mountain.

Here everything is a walking distance away: a couple of smaller markets, a post office, a doctor, a pharmacy, a tourist office and a tourist agency.

In nearby cities like Trogir and Split, you can find more possibilities for entertainment, seesighting and shopping.

Furthermore, as Seget Donji is situated geographically exactly in the middle of the Adriatic coast, all the others Dalmatian and Croatian cultural and natural attractions are close enough.
