Rabac, Croatia

Rabac Rabac, a highly popular tourist resort is situated in a sheltered bay of the same name, 5 km bellow the hilltop town of Labin.

IN THE PAST 10 HOUSES...

Looking at the apartment blocks covering its hillsides it is hard to believe that in the beginning of the 19th century Rabac was just a small fishing village with 10 houses. But, after being discovered and described by Richard Francis Burton (in 1876) in his guidebook intitled “Istrian coast”, Rabac started to develop and over time has become one of the important tourist destination.

...and NOW 10000!

I don't know, but over the years a large number of houses and two large hotel complexes have been built thus squeezing its small port and making it hard to find those old stone houses.
A beautiful pedestrian promenade lined with restaurants and cafés bars links these two zones in the center of the town. The meandering seafront continues for kilometres along the coast offering a marvelous view on the Kvarner Golf and its islands.

ACCOMODATION

Rabac abounds in all kind of hotels, camps, apartment blocks and houses for rent ; in short, its infrastructures are able to receive up to 10,000 persons in summertime.

BEACHES

Maslinica, the main pebbly beach on the northern side of the cove has many water sports facilities, and is adapted to people with disabilities.

Scattered across the pine groves, the small beaches
St. Andrea and Lanterna are made of stones, pebbles and sometimes of cement.

Girandella beach attracts mostly a younger crowd and its part of a promenade is suitable for bicyclists and roller-skates.

The
Ravna beach located a little farther away from Rabac is the best known destination for surfers and divers in the area due to its “good” winds and currents.
