Mimice, Croatia

Mimice This small village of Omis riviera was established in the 17th century at the foot of Omiska Dinara mountain.

Following the construction of the Magistral (the main seaside route) the village spread till the sea.

The "old" Mimice with the traditional stone houses is concentrated around the St. Rocco church. The whole village revives during the summer time when its inhabitants return for their holidays.

Mimice is known for its small harbour with excursion boats and for its two pebble beaches: the main beach Juto and the beach Kutlesa that is in the bay next to Juto on the east.

Beautiful beaches with shallow water that spreads to Medici, the car free waterfront  and the peace of this bay are ideal for family vacations.

Well equipped apartments and houses for rent here are almost all situated bellow the main road that divides the place on the ancient and the new part. Because of terrain steepness, almost every apartment in Mimice has a view of the Adriatic Sea and the northern side of the island of Brač.

Also, at the old village some of the renovated villas are rented as single unit houses with swimmingpool.

Here everything is in walking distance: a market, restaurants, cafés, a post office and a tourist agency.

If you are driving on the coastal road, just follow it from Omis direction Makarska or vice versa and take care not to miss the sign to Mimice.

The bus stop is located on the main coastal road.

Those that want more than the beach and nautical activities can enjoy long walks on tarmac roads just below the Omiska Dinara Mountain surrounded by beautiful nature, and visit several interesting caves like Spuzarica, Mateskove Spilje, Poklonica, Velika Radomajka, Gubava Spilja. Above, there is an old route that leads to Omis, perfect for jogging or cycling with a breathtaking view.

During the summer a local agency organizes excursions to the top of the Kosmatica Mountain that is just above Mimice, daily trips to the islands of Brac, Hvar and to the bay of Vruja. It is also possible to learn fishing with professional fishermen on their boats.
